ALL BARS IN THE SPORTS GROUNDS TO BE SOLD.

Sport Assistant minister Kabando wa Kabando has ordered all bars in
the playing fields in Kerugoya stadium be closed.
Speaking at Kerugoya town after watching several football matches
between clubs from Kirinyaga Central district, directed the
Kerugoya-Kutus Municipal Council to make sure that the sports club be
converted into a changing room for sports people.
“I am directing the Municipal Mayor to oversee that the sports club
which is in this stadium be converted to a changing room for the
sports people and not a beer center” added Kabando
Kabando said that the government is devoted in fighting drug taking
among the youths who are involved in sports.
“Hakuna hata kuvutia sigara kwa uwanja wa michezo(There is no smoking
or smoker who is supposed to be near a play field)”said Kabando.
He said that since sports people have showcased their talent and have
made the country be known through sports, the ministry will be used to
market the country.
Kabando also said that 3 million shillings have been set aside to
construct a center of excellence in sports at Kerugoya Girl’s
secondary school which has been voted as the best school in hockey.
He said that in the school, basketball, hockey, football, volleyball,
cricket pitches are going to be constructed in the school for the
public.
“The ministry is going to have several pitches at the said school
where members of the public can take the opportunity to play” added
Kabando.
He said that trained officers are going to be on the ground to assist
the sports officers to give the public more skills in sports.
Kabando also added that primary school’s are supposed to be centers
for juniors for pupils to participate in sports so that they may be
acquitted with the sport as they graduate to the senior category.
