FIRE.

Over 20 people will spend the night in the cold after a fierce fire destroyed their rented house at Kerugoya town.
The fire was caused by a gas cylinder that exploded spreading the fire to other houses.
According to an eye witness Njeri who has a gas shop said that she only heard a bang from one of the houses.
She said that when she went to see what could have caused the bang a fierce fire was seen coming from one of the rent houses spreading fast to the others.
Ms. Njeri said that before fire brigade arrived, members of the public who heard them scream came to help in putting off the fire.
Area OCPD Patrick Oduma said that noone was hurt but property was saved by wananchi who responded very fast in putting off the fire.
He said that for the first time ever, Kirinyaga fire brigade was able to respond to the fire without any hitch.
Mr. Oduma said that they have launched investigations to what could have caused the fire pointing out that they cannot rule out it was a gas cylinder.
Mr. Oduma however cautioned people to handle gas cylinders very carefully and not leaving it leaking.
The owner of the house was not available as she had gone for a burial in Nyeri.
