defilement

DEFILEMENT.
JANE MUGAMBI 24TH JUNE 2010.
A 65 year old man is locked at Baricho police station alleged to have defiled his 8 year old granddaughter.
According to area OCPD Patrick Oduma the grand used to stay with the granddaughter with his elderly wife after the girls parents separated.
He said that her teacher suspected something was wrong when she found her crying under a tree.
Mr.Oduma said that the standard three girl confessed to her teacher what had been happening at home and the teacher took a step of informing the area chief and his assistant who arrested the elderly man.
He said that the four contributed money to take the girl to Karatina hospital where according to the doctor’s report it showed she had internal damage as a result of repeatedly defilement.
Mr.Oduma added that acting on the P3 form issued to the four, the grand who tried to justify himself assured the police officers telling them that he had been defiling the girl when the wife is not around.
The girl narrated how the old man used to tell her that he was applying Vaseline so that she could not feel pain and get in quickly so that he could not be caught by his wife.
Area DC Rhoda Onyancha condemned the act saying that it was beastly acts which will make the girl leave a traumatized life.
She said that men should behave and not think of getting near their girls or grand children saying that was the only way to avert defilement cases.
The DC added that defilement cases are on the rise in the area sending fears HIV cases being on the rise.
She has however told mothers to be very careful when leaving their girl child with a man.
Ms. Onyancha has directed the chiefs to be on the look out and hold barazas to educate people on the defilement and the punishment that follows.
The father was very devastated to hear what his father had done to his daughter saying that law justice should be done to see that he is punished.
