kidnapped man in court

FALSE KIDNAPPED VICTIM AT A KERUGOYA COURT.

A man claimed to have been kidnapped was arraigned at a Kerugoya court facing charges of giving false information.
The court heard that on 23rd June 2010 in Kagio trading centre Christopher Mwangi informed a police officer that he had been kidnapped by people well known to him, information he knew or believed to be false.
Chief prosecutor Rogers Shifuna told the court that investigations had been completed by the police and that the case to proceed.
The accused pleaded not guilty and was released on a bond o 100,000/- or surety of a similar amount.
Principal magistrate Steve Mbungi set the hearing date to be on 26th July this year.
The accused claimed to have been kidnapped by well known people to him at an ATM dispenser Kagio trading center as he withdrew money at 4 am.
He called all his relatives saying that his kidnappers demanded 100,000/- for his release but they compromised with him and they were able to raise to get 16,100/- through M-pesa at the time of is arrest.
He was not represented by any lawyer.
