A HABITUAL THIEF JAILED FOR 16 YEARS FOR STEALING.
JANE MUGAMBI 24TH FEB 2012.
A habitual, petty thief has been jailed for 16 years by a Kerugoya
court for house breaking and stealing.
Anthony Muthee was found guilty of breaking and stealing 22 iron
sheets and other assorted household all valued at 18,770/- property of
Geoffrey Kamau.
According to the prosecutor, the accused was found by the owner who
had left his house briefly to see a friend off and on coming back; he
was able to catch Muthee red-handed stealing from his house.
He said that when he peeped and saw that his house had been broken
into and saw the accused person removing the household, he screamed
attracting neighbors who responded to his distress call.
The prosecutor also said that a probation report shows that the
accused was a habitual offender and that the report recommended that
he be given a custodial for his own safety.
Chief magistrate Hanna Ndung’u said that though the accused pleaded
guilty, she was also to follow the report saying that if Muthee is
released or put on probation, he might be killed by mob for breaking
and stealing their valuables.
He was remanded at Kerugoya G.K prison.
